Just last week, Holly Holm’s manager said that talks regarding a December 30th bout with Cris “Cyborg” Justino were going nowhere. But, according to a new report, the fight could take place at UFC 219 after all.
Holm’s manager, Lenny Fresquez informed MMA Fighting that they were hoping to fight the featherweight champ at the year end bout, but since they couldn’t come to financial terms, the bout was essentially “dead.” Well, now the site’s Ariel Helwani is reporting that there is “renewed optimism” that the fight could happen. Fresquez, however, reportedly declined to comment when asked if the fight was back on.
With just six weeks to go until UFC 219, the Las Vegas card still doesn’t have a main event. So, obviously the UFC would love to book this bout for December 30th, and in a hurry, if possible.
Holm is coming off a knockout win over Bethe Correia in June, and Justino won the featherweight belt one month later, by stopping Tonya Evinger.
