The consensus is that Ronda Rousey’s days as pro MMA fighter are done, but according to Dana White, the former UFC champ hasn’t hung up the gloves yet.
Following Rousey’s devastating loss to Amanda Nunes in December, 2016, the superstar said she was taking some time to think about her future. Since then, however, we haven’t heard much from her publicly, in terms of whether she will fight again.
But, since Rousey has a lot of opportunities outside of the cage, and always said she didn’t plan to fight very long, most people believe she’s done. Even White has gone on record saying that he thinks “Rowdy” won’t be back in the cage.
But, at a recent media luncheon, White relayed the following about Rousey (quote via MMA Junkie):
“She has not retired,” White said. “USADA is still popping up at her house testing her, but she refuses to retire.”
“I don’t know. I honestly don’t know,” White added. ” … She’s not ready to say, ‘I quit.’ She’s not ready to say, ‘I’m done,’ for whatever reason. She doesn’t tick like everyone else ticks.”
Interesting no? White went on to say that he actually doesn’t want Rousey to return to the UFC, since she has money, doesn’t need to fight etc. But, we all know if “Rowdy” did want to take one more bout, the UFC would definitely sign on.
