Sijara Eubanks will not be fighting for the UFC’s inaugural, women’s flyweight title on Friday after all, as the promotion’s announced she’s been forced out of the fight due to medical issues.
Recently the UFC posted the statement below:
“Due to medical issues, Sijara Eubanks was hospitalized Thursday morning and has been pulled from her bout against Nicco Montano at Friday’s The Ultimate Fighter Finale. Stepping in for Eubanks to fight in the inaugural UFC women’s flyweight championship bout will be Ultimate Fighter 26 semifinalist Roxanne Modafferi.”
Although the statement didn’t provide any specifics, as to what issues Eubanks has encountered, the flyweight reportedly had issues making weight during TUF 26.
Modafferi was eliminated from the competition by Eubanks, who earned a decision win over her in the semifinals. The 35 year-old Modafferi is one of the most experienced, women fighters on the UFC roster, as she currently has a record of 21-13.
The TUF 26 Finale will go down Friday in Las Vegas, Nevada.
