Following Jose Aldo’s devastating loss to Max Holloway at UFC 218, we hadn’t heard much from the Brazilian star. But, now the former featherweight champ has released a statement, regarding the defeat.

Aldo was taken out by Holloway in the third round of their bout last Saturday, which marked the second time this year, the Hawaiian champ has stopped the legend. Aldo was tapped for an immediate rematch, after Holloway’s original opponent for UFC 218, Frankie Edgar, withdrew to injury.

Well, more recently, Aldo posted the comments below via Instagram (translation via MMA Fighting):

“I only have to thank my family that I love for everything, and my team Nova Uniao, the best in the world, for making me great and champion, and [thank] my friends and fans that are always with me. Thank you all! I will be always optimistic because believing is the first step to making it happen.”
