Jorge Rivera has been forced out of his UFC 118 matchup with fellow middleweight Alessio Sakara after suffering a broken arm while training for the August 28 event in Boston, the Massachusetts native Rivera announced today on Facebook.
The bout was scheduled to air during the one-hour UFC 118 prelims special on Spike, which also includes Joe Lauzon vs. Terry Etim.
Rivera (18-7) scored a second-round knockout of Nate Quarry in March for his third-straight win, while Sakara (15-7) has also won three-straight, most-recently earning a first-round TKO of James Irvin in March.
The UFC is expected to search for a replacement to face Sakara at UFC 118, while a timeline for Rivera’s return is not yet known.
