WEC 50 Medical Suspensions: Dominick Cruz Among Five Sidelined Until February

Dominick CruzWEC bantamweight champ Dominick Cruz and 135-pound contender Scott Jorgensen are among five fighters from Saturday’s WEC 50 event who could be sidelined up to six months.

After outpointing Joseph Benavidez in the WEC 50 main event to retain his title, Cruz must have his right hand x-rayed and cleared by a doctor or he’ll remain sidelined until February.

Unless cleared early, Jorgensen, Shane Roller, Bart Palaszewski, and Danny Castillo will also remain suspended for six months.

The complete list of suspensions from the Nevada State Athletic Commission included:

  • Dominick Cruz must have right hand x-rayed and cleared by doctor or suspended until February 15
  • Joseph Benavidez is suspended until October 3
  • Shane Roller must have left knee x-rayed and cleared or suspended until February 15
  • Anthony Pettis is suspended until September 18
  • Scott Jorgensen must have left hand x-rayed or suspended until February 15. Minimum suspension until September 18
  • Brad Pickett is suspended until September 18
  • Zach Micklewright is suspended until October 3
  • Bart Palaszewski must have right knee x-rayed or suspended until February 15
  • Anthony Njokuani is suspended until October 3
  • Javier Vazquez is suspended until September 18
  • Dave Jansen is suspended until October 3
  • Danny Castillo must have right wrist x-rayed or suspended until February 15. Minimum suspension until September 18
