“I finally got my release from [Strikeforce]. Y’all know what I’m about to do,” Hieron wrote on Twitter. “I have been threw a lot of shit this past year but I have trained the whole time. So all [welterweights] take notice I’m coming for somebody’s head.”
Hieron (19-4) earned Strikeforce wins over Jesse Taylor last August and Joe Riggs in January to push his win streak to seven-straight, but neither fight was televised and a promised title shot against champ Nick Diaz never materialized.
The former IFL champ went 0-2 in the UFC from 2004 to 2005, suffering losses to Georges St-Pierre and Jonathan Goulet, but has gone 12-2 since.
