The New Jersey State Athletic Control Board has handed out two medical suspensions for UFC 78:
- Joe Doerksen has been suspended for 60 days after suffering a fractured orbital bone in his knockout loss to Ed Herman.
- Akihiro Gono, who posted a second-round submission victory over Tamdan McCrory on the event’s undercard, has also been suspended indefinitely due a wrist injury.
Houston Alexander and Luke Caudillo did not receive any medical suspensions despite knockout losses. Additionally, Chris Lytle, who lost his bout following a doctor stoppage due to a cut above his eye, did not receive any suspension.
Both Doerksen and Gono will have to be medically cleared before returning to competition.
