Vitor Belfort Healthy, Will Fight UFC Champ Anderson Silva in Early-2011

Vitor BelfortVitor Belfort is getting his long-awaited title shot against middleweight champion Anderson Silva sooner than expected.

Despite reports that an injury forced Belfort out of November’s UFC 122 against fellow contender Yushin Okami, UFC President Dana White has confirmed Belfort is healthy and will challenge Silva for title early next year, possibly in the main event of UFC 125 on January 1 in Las Vegas.

“Vitor is not injured. He is going to fight Anderson [Silva] for the title and the winner of [UFC 122’s Nate] Marquart and [Yushin] Okami are next,” White announced on Twitter.

Belfort was pulled from the UFC 122 main event against Okami and replaced by Marquardt earlier today so he could challenge Silva after a planned rematch between Silva and Chael Sonnen was derailed by Sonnen’s failed drug test following their first meeting at UFC 117.
