TJ O’Brien in for Gabe Ruediger against Paul Kelly at UFC 123

Paul KellyOne day after Gabe Ruediger was forced out of his UFC 123 fight against fellow lightweight Paul Kelly, The Ultimate Fighter 12’s TJ O’Brien has stepped in and will debut against Kelly on the preliminary card of the Nov. 20 event in Detroit, MMAjunkie reported earlier today.

O’Brien (16-3) failed to make it into the TUF house after suffering a 13-second KO to Marc Stevens, but will still get a shot in the UFC after winning 13 of his last 14 fights all by submission, including a current six-fight win streak.

Kelly (10-3) will look to avoid a likely UFC release after dropping 2 of his last 3, including an August loss to Jacob Volkmann, despite a 3-1 start to his UFC career.

The UFC 123 fight card is headlined by former champs Quinton “Rampage” Jackson vs. Lyoto Machida and BJ Penn vs. Matt Hughes.
