Patrick Cote has been released by the UFC after the former middleweight contender dropped his third-straight fight with a unanimous decision loss to Tom Lawlor at Saturday’s UFC 121, but has vowed to make a return to the promotion.
“I had a little hope but finally got the release word from the UFC,” Cote posted this afternoon on Twitter. “It’s been a awesome experience! I’ll be back!”
Cote (13-7) scored five-straight wins over the likes of Kendall Grove and Ricardo Almeida to earn a shot at middleweight champ Anderson Silva in 2008, but a knee injury ended his title bid and the Canadian returned with a loss to Alan Belcher in May before falling to Lawlor.
