Walker required several stitches to close a gash under his left eye that the former football standout suffered while training Monday at American Kickboxing Academy in San Jose, California.
“I feel terrible about this,’’ said Walker, who was cut by a knee from fellow Strikeforce heavyweight Daniel Cormier. “I know things like this happen in all sports, but I had trained very hard and was excited to be returning to the cage again. I hope to fight again as soon as the cut heals.’’
The Strikeforce Dec. 4 fight card is headlined by a rematch between veterans Dan Henderson and Renato “Babalu” Sobral.
