WEC 31 Airs Live Tonight On Versus

For those who primarily follow UFC mixed martial arts, tonight is a great opportunity to get acquainted with the WEC (World Extreme Cagefighting) which will be airing WEC 31 live and free of charge starting at 9pm ET on the Versus channel. The card for tonight’s show looks pretty sick and will be featuring WEC featherweight champion Urijah Faber, as well as dominating middleweight champion Paulo Filho and UFC veteran Jens Pulver in his long awaited WEC debut.

Since WEC 31 looks so stacked and is airing gratis, I will even go as far to say that I think this might be the first time a WEC event looks more promising than the last UFC pay per view. Though I guess that doesn’t really matter since Zuffa now owns the WEC any way. Perhaps the UFC should pluck some of those stars (cough Paulo Filho cough) from the WEC and throw them into the octagon one of these days? There’s a thought that’s not exactly unspoken any more.

WEC 31 Fight Card

  • Urijah Faber vs. Jeff Curran (featherweight championship bout)
  • Paulo Filho vs. Chael Sonnen (middleweight championship bout)
  • Doug Marshall vs. Ariel Gandulla (light-heavyweight championship bout)
  • Cub Swanson vs. Jens Pulver
  • Alex Karalexis vs. Ed Ratcliff
  • John Alessio vs. Todd Moore
  • Bryan Baker vs. Eric Schambari
  • Ian McCall vs. Charlie Valencia
  • Brian Bowles vs. Marcos Galvao

Note: The featherweight bout between Chance Farrar and Micah Miller was canceled due to an injury sustained by Farrar.
