Fedor Emelianenko vs. Antonio Silva, Jason “Mayhem” Miller vs. Tim Kennedy Possible for Jan. 29 Strikeforce

Fedor EmelianenkoFormer top-ranked heavyweight Fedor Emelianenko has apparently finalized his expected contract extension with Strikeforce and is in talks to face fellow contender Antonio “Bigfoot” Silva at Strikeforce’s Jan. 29 event in San Jose, California, MMA Weekly reports.

The Showtime-televised event could also feature a rubber match between middleweight contenders Tim Kennedy and Jason “Mayhem” Miller, according to MMAjunkie, after Miller’s anticipated showdown with rival welterweight champ Nick Diaz recently fell apart.

Emelianenko (32-2) returns after being stunned with a 69-second submission to Fabricio Werdum in June to snap a 28-fight and nearly 10 year win streak, while Silva (15-2) topped Mike Kyle earlier this month for his 8th win in nine fights, with his only loss coming to Werdum.

Miller (24-7) submitted Japanese legend Kazushi Sakuraba in DREAM in September for his second-straight since falling to champ Jake Shields last November, while Kennedy (12-3) came up short in his bid for the 185-pound title against Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza in August after four-straight wins.
