Jose Aldo Hoping to Return in March for UFC Featherweight Title Defense

Jose AldoUFC featherweight champion Jose Aldo hopes to make his Octagon debut as soon as March after a back injury forced him out of a Jan. 1 UFC 125 title defense against Josh Grispi last month, Aldo’s manager Ed Soares recently told Versus.

Aldo received the UFC title in November as part of World Extreme Cagefighting’s merger with the UFC and the next challenger for the belt will likely be determined in the coming months, as Grispi faces Dustin Poirier at UFC 125 and contenders Chad Mendes and Michihiro Omigawa clash in February.

Aldo (18-1) scored a second-round knockout of Manny Gamburyan in his last fight in September, joining victories over Urijah Faber and Mike Brown in his 11-fight win streak.
