Kenny Florian hopes to return to UFC action this summer after recovering from a knee injury that forced him to withdraw from a matchup with fellow contender Evan Dunham in the main event of UFC Fight for the Troops on Jan. 22.
“Maybe I can be back before that, but that’s the realistic goal I set for myself and hopefully I can be back in the cage soon,” Florian recently told MMA Weekly. “I’m really missing the training, and 2011 is a year where I really want to get back in the title picture.”
Though his next opponent has yet to be decided, the winner of the Jan. 22 fight between Dunham and Florian’s replacement Melvin Guillard is one potential option that would give the winner a chance to get into the title hunt.
