Mark Hominick Challenges Champ Jose Aldo at UFC 129 in Toronto with Jan. 22 Win

If he earns a win over George Roop at UFC Fight for the Troops 2 on Jan. 22, Mark Hominck will challenge UFC featherweight champ Jose Aldo for the 145-pound title at UFC 129 on April 30 in Toronto, UFC President Dana White announced on Tuesday.

Hominck (19-8) will be seeking his fifth-straight win against Roop after topping Leonard Garcia in September, while Aldo (18-1) was crowned UFC champ after defending the WEC title over Manny Gamburyan in September, but an injury forced him out of a UFC 125 fight with Josh Grispi.

UFC 129 is headlined by welterweight champ Georges St-Pierre vs. Jake Shields and also includes Randy Couture vs. Lyoto Machida and Phil Davis vs. Matt Hamill.
