Lawal took to his Twitter account on Friday night to make the announcement:
“Ima be fightin June 18th!!! In The Triple D!!!!!!!!!!!!! Somebody gettin they ass whooped!!!”
“King Mo” has not competed since losing his light heavyweight title to current champion Rafeal “Feijao” Cavalcante at “Strikeforce: Houston” last August.
He has recently been recovering from knee surgery.
The June 18 Strikeforce event could take place in Dallas, Texas, according to Lawal, and is the first rumored Strikeforce event past the much talked about April 9 event.
June 18 will be the first Saturday for over two months where a competing event is not scheduled.
Showtime has boxing events scheduled for April 16 (Lopez vs. Salido), April 23 (Agbeko vs. Mares), May 7 (Pacquaio vs. Mosley), May 14 (Ward vs. Abraham), and May 21 (Froch vs. Johnson).
UFC has events scheduled for April 30 (UFC 129) , May 28 (UFC 130), June 4 (TUF 13 Finale), and June 11 (UFC 131).
Strikeforce will likely forego holding any additional events, aside from a possible Challengers event, during this time period.
