UFC 128 Medical Suspensions: Jones, Rua Sidelined Indefinitely

Mauricio Shogun RuaNewly crowned UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones must sit out indefinitely until his right hand is cleared following a third-round TKO of former title-holder Mauricio “Shogun” Rua in the main event of UFC 128 this past weekend.

The UFC 128 medical suspensions were handed down by the New Jersey State Athletic Control Board following the Saturday’s event in Newark.

Rua must sit out 60 days due to the TKO, and also received an indefinite suspension pending clearance of his head.

The complete list of UFC 128 medical suspensions included:

  • Jon Jones: Suspended indefinitely pending clearance of right hand
  • Mauricio “Shogun” Rua: Suspended indefinitely pending CT scan, minimum 60-day suspension for TKO loss
  • Kamal Shalorus: Suspended indefinitely pending CT scan, minimum 60-day suspension for TKO loss
  • Brendan Schaub: Suspended indefinitely pending CT scan, minimum 60-day suspension for facial lacerations
  • Mirko Cro Cop: Suspended indefinitely pending CT scan, minimum 30-day suspension for TKO loss
  • Luiz Cane: Suspended indefinitely pending clearance of left thumb
  • Eliot Marshall: Suspended indefinitely pending CT scan, minimum 30-day suspension for TKO loss
  • Edson Barboza: Suspended indefinitely pending clearance of right hand and knee
  • Ian Loveland: Suspended indefinitely pending clearance of right ankle
  • Raphael Assuncao: Suspended 30 days for knockout loss
