It’s still unknown who will be booked as coaches for The Ultimate Fighter 14, but whoever they are they won’t be named Dominick or Urijah.
Instead, the rumored coaches for the next season of the reality series will face off at UFC 132 on July 2 as UFC bantamweight champion Dominick Cruz (17-1) defends the 135-pound title against former WEC featherweight king Urijah Faber (25-4).
The UFC announced the matchup on it’s official Twitter account this afternoon:
The bout was dependent on a successful UFC debut for Faber at last weekend’s UFC 128 event. Faber earned an impressive unanimous decision win over Eddie Wineland at the event, marking his second-straight win.
Faber dropped to bantamweight this past fall after an unsuccessful attempt to regain his WEC featherweight belt against Jose Aldo at last year’s WEC 48 event.
Faber and Cruz fought once already with Faber earning a first round submission over a Cruz back in 2007.
UFC 132 is also set to feature a rematch between welterweights B.J. Penn and Jon Fitch as well as a light heavyweight bout pitting Tito Ortiz vs. Ryan Bader.
