UFC Releases Heavyweight Sean McCorkle After Back-to-Back Losses

Sean McCorkleHeavyweight Sean McCorkle has been released by the UFC after losing to Christian Morecraft last month to fall to 1-2 inside the Octagon with his second-straight loss.

McCorkle confirmed his release to MMAFighting in typical joking fashion from the man nicknamed “Big Sexy” aimed at friend and training partner Matt Mitrione:

“I want to thank the UFC for giving me an opportunity that I had not earned, giving me very favorable match-ups, and hyping me far more than my talent warranted…Oh, I’m sorry, I thought was writing a statement for Matt Mitrione.”

McCorkle (10-2) submitted Mark Hunt in just 67-seconds in his UFC debut in September to earn a co-main event slot against Stefan Struve at December’s UFC 124, but would suffer a first-round TKO before being submitted by Morecraft at UFC Fight Night 24 on March 26.
