Cole Escovedo has replaced Demetrious Johnson, who was recently moved to face Miguel Torres, and will make his UFC debut against fellow WEC veteran Renan Barao on the preliminary card of UFC 130 on July 2 in Las Vegas, MMAjunkie reports.
Barao (25-1) submitted Chris Cariaso in the opening round at the WEC’s final event in December, while Escovedo (17-6) is 6-2 since a three-fight losing streak that saw him lose the WEC featherweight title to Urijah Faber in 2006.
The UFC 130 fight card is headlined by a third meeting between UFC lightweight champion Frankie Edgar and Gray Maynard and also includes Quinton “Rampage” Jackson vs. Matt Hamill and Frank Mir vs. Roy Nelson.
