Brazilian submission specialists Rousimar Palhares and Alexandre Ferreira are expected to meet in a middleweight bout in front of their home country at UFC 134 on August 27 in Rio de Janeiro, PVT reports.
The matchup was originally booked for March’s UFC on Versus 3, but “Cacareco” Ferreira was forced to withdraw.
Palhares (12-3) would go on to score a second-round submission of Dave Branch for his fourth win in five fights, while Ferreira (18-7) hasn’t fought since dropping his UFC debut to Vladimir Matyushenko in November.
UFC 134 is headlined by middleweight champion Anderson Silva vs. Yushin Okami and also features a rematch between former light heavyweight champs Mauricio “Shogun” Rua and Forrest Griffin.
