Jake Ellenberger already has his sights set on a matchup with welterweight title challenger Jake Shields just days after scoring his fourth-straight UFC win with a first-round KO of Sean Pierson, but first he’ll need to recover from a broken hand before he can continue his climb up the 170-pound rankings.
“I broke the fourth metacarpal in my left hand. Just had to get a quick little operation, but it went smooth. Should be back in training in six to eight weeks,” Ellenberger told MMA Weekly.
“I would love [to fight Jake Shields],” Ellenberger continued. “It’s definitely up to the UFC… but if I could pick who I fight it would definitely be (Jake Shields). Fighting a guy like GSP, that’s a tough feat in it’s own, but Shields is still a top ten guy in the division. I’m ready, I really feel I’m ready to face those top ten guys.”
