The UFC is expected to return to the Bell Centre in Montreal, Canada for UFC 140 on December 10, which could feature a super fight between UFC welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre and Strikeforce title-holder Nick Diaz, UFC Canada executive Tom Wright said Wednesday.
“Most likely we’ll be back in Montreal on December 10,” Wright told Ringside Report. “I’ve heard about the Nick Diaz-GSP fight but it is too early (to tell).”
UFC 140 would be fifth UFC event at the 23,000-seat venue, which previously hosted UFC 83, UFC 97, UFC 113, and most-recently UFC 124 in December, which drew a then-record attendance of 23,152 to see local favorite GSP top Josh Koscheck.
That record was shattered in April when 55,724 fans witnessed St-Pierre’s (22-2) latest title defense over Jake Shields in Toronto for his ninth-straight win.
Meanwhile, Diaz (25-7) scored a first-round TKO of Paul Daley in April for his tenth-straight win and is slated to make his boxing debut this fall unless he returns to the UFC to challenge GSP.
