Mamed Khalidov submitted Matt Lindland with a first-round guillotine and James Thompson forced five-time World’s Strongest Man Mariusz Pudzianowski to tap to a second-round arm triangle at Saturday’s KSW 16 event in Poland.
Meanwhile at BAMMA 6 in London, Tom “Kong” Watson scored a third-round TKO of Murilo “Ninja” Rua, UFC veteran Frank Trigg stopped John Phillips with an opening-round cut, and Matt Ewin topped Ivan Salaverry to spoil the veteran’s return from retirement.
In other weekend action:
- UFC veteran Karo Parisyan appeared to be on his way to earning a decision win over Ryan Ford at MMA Live 1 on Thursday in London, Ontario, Canada before a Ford knee cut Parisyan to his skull to force a doctor’s stoppage early in the third round.
- UFC hall of famer Dan Severn again came up short in his bid for his 100th win, as he was knocked out in the opening round by Lee Beane on Friday in Worcester, Mass.
- Justin Buchholz knocked out fellow UFC vet Steve Lopez with a front-kick KO at Saturday’sSuperior Cage Combat 1 in Las Vegas. WEC vet Dave Terrel and former UFC fighter Chase Gormley were dealt losses at the event.
