Reuben Duran, Tony Ferguson, Kyle Kingsbury, and Fabio Maldonado all earned an extra $40K for their efforts tonight at the TUF 13 Finale. Dana White tweeted the news upon conclusion of the main card which aired on Spike TV.
Reuben Duran picked up “Submission of the Night” by default with his third round rear-naked choke of Francisco Rivera. Duran won the award by default and can thank the flexibility of Danny Downes shoulder against Jeremy Stephens for the $40K he earned.
TUF 13 champion Tony Ferguson earned “Knockout of the Night” for his brutal knockout of Ramsey Nijem. The two engaged in a fast-paced bout before Ferguson landed a hard left hook that clipped Nijem and finished him on the ground with strikes before referee stoppage.
In the most contentious bout of the night, Fabio Maldonado and Kyle Kingsbury battled all three rounds resulting in a win for Kingsbury. Kingsbury came out of the gate strong and blasted the Brazilian with hard knees from the Thai clinch but two deep guillotine choke attempts from Maldonado caused his pace to slow through out the bout. By the end, both fighters were beat up badly as Maldonado appeared to have a broken nose in addition to cuts and Kingsbury’s left eye was completely shut by the end.
