The UFC has added two more fights to the expanding UFC 137 fight card, announcing a bout between lightweight strikers Dennis Siver and Sam Stout and a light heavyweight matchup between Brandon Vera and Eliot Marshall for the October 29 event in Las Vegas.
Dennis Siver Meets Sam Stout at UFC 137
Two hard hitting strikers will meet when Dennis Siver (19-7) faces Sam “Hands of Steel” Stout (17-6) at UFC 137. Siver is coming off a close decision victory over Matt Wiman at UFC 132 earlier this month and will look to run his current winstreak to five inside the Octagon.
Stout will be looking to garner another “Knockout of the Night” award when he faces the German fighter and improve his own winstreak to three. Stout won his last fight with a vicious KO of Yves Edwards that earned him the bonus at UFC 131 in June.
Brandon Vera Returns Against Eliot Marshall
Brandon “The Truth” Vera will make his return to the Octagon against Eliot “Fire” Marshall at UFC 137 as well. Vera was bounced from the UFC after a dismal performance against Thiago Silva at UFC 125 in January, but the unanimous decision loss was scrapped after a drug test proved Silva used synthetic urine in an attempt to hide banned substances. The Nevada State Athletic Commission overturned the decision to a “no contest” and the UFC quietly reinstated Vera not long after.
Vera will be looking to end his three fight winless streak against Marshall, a veteran of The Ultimate Fighter 8 who suffered a first-round TKO to Luiz Cane in his own return to the UFC in March. The matchup will likely see the loser sent home as a loss or bad performance could end the UFC career of either fighter.
UFC 137 will be headlined by a welterweight title fight as UFC champion Georges St-Pierre faces off against former Strikeforce title-holder Nick Diaz, while welterweights BJ Penn and Carlos Condit will meet in the UFC 137 co-main event.
