A middleweight fight between Nick Catone (9-2) and Aaron Simpson (9-2) is the latest addition to the growing UFC 136 fight card. The organization announced the matchup today via Twitter.
The New Jersey based Catone opened his UFC career with a win over Derek Downey before falling to Mark Munoz and Tim Credeur. Catone has since rebounded with decision wins over Jesse Forbes and Constantinos Philippou.
Simpson is a former Arizona State University wrestler and coach who followed his protégés C.B. Dollaway, Ryan Bader, and Cain Velasquez into mixed martial arts. Simpson began his UFC career with three straight wins over the likes of Tim McKenzie, Ed Herman, and Tom Lawlor before tasting defeat at the hands of Chris Leben and Munoz. Simpson resumed his winning ways in 2011 with a pair of wins over Mario Miranda and Brad Tavares.
UFC 136 will be headlined by a pair of UFC title fights. Lightweight champion Frankie Edgar will defend his title against Gray Maynard in a rematch of their UFC 125 draw, while featherweight champion Jose Aldo puts his title on the line against Kenny Florian.
