Diaz, Gamburyan Rematch On The Horizon?

By: Kris Karkoski | Apr 13,2008

A rematch between “The Ultimate Fighter 5″ finalists Nate Diaz and Manny Gamburyan could be next for the promising UFC lightweights.

From Diaz:

“The UFC decides [my opponents] for me. Manny (Gamburyan) wants to fight me. But you know what? I want to fight him too just as much.”

After dominating the opening round of their first meeting, Gamburyan was forced to tap out after dislocating his shoulder early in the second round, allowing Diaz to win the bout and TUF title in controversial fashion. Gamburyan has since gone 2-0 in the UFC after recovering from the injury, defeating both Nate Mohr and Jeff Cox via first-round submissions. Diaz, meanwhile, has gone 3-0 in the UFC since the finale, securing submission wins over Junior Assuncao, Alvin Robinson, and Kurt Pellegrino.

ide like to see this fight, i think manny would win tho even tho ide like to see diaz beat his ass,
p.s who else thinks that diaz sounds like mike tyson haha

ok dude for one diaz would kick manny’s any day of the week..all he can do is wrestle his opponents to the ground with his little midget frame..pelligrino is a far more experienced wrestler than manny. and two manny doesnt deserve to be fighting in diaz

I believe it would be a good fight, and if Manny could avoid submissions, he would win. I also believe Manny deserves a rematch since we’ve seen rematches for a lot less.

when the first fight happened…i was pretty sure that manny was going to overpower nate and win the fight easily…

now after watching nate in his post TUF fights, i’m much much more impressed with him and i really feel like he’ll weather any storm that manny could bring and find a way to beat him.. we’ve seen him get overpowered now by guys like pellegrino and maynard but still find a way to pull it out

Nate Diaz is gonna choke out Manny Gamburyan 3rd round via armbar on the same arm that dislocated in their first scrap and Diaz wins again!!! what the ufc needs to do is throw in Karo Parision vs Nick Diaz now that would be krazy 2 rematches!! i know i know Nick is with pro elite it would be nice though

i think that anybody you put in front of Nate right now would look good in the first round, then get choked out or submitted some other crazy way. Manny would beat him up a little, but Nate would win………….again.

i am a huge fan of diaz but i will say this it appeared that diaz was getting whooped by manny but at the same time look at almost all diaz fights he always gets whooped on but soon he comes back in awesome fashion with a nice submission so we will see i am going with diaz though…. manny needs to wait his time you almost never( shamrock vs ortiz) get a rematch without the better guy losing. you can disgrace a fighter after they already beat someone wheather or not its controversal or not they have to wait there time no DO OVERS!!!!

Its only a matter of time before Nate gets KOed in the first round. He need a strong stand up to be well rounded in stead of always falling back on his ground game to win fights. A bigger lightweight who loves to throw hard punches like tyson griffen or roger huerta will ko him in the first. Nate is getting much better but needs some time to mature.

if i were nate i’d be a little pissed about this cuz he’s already beaten 3 in a row so he should be getting to fight a better opponent, not someone he already fought. right now i think it would be a good time to see lauzon vs diaz cuz lauzon put on a pretty good show even though he was beaten. or throw tyson griffen at him, that would be a good fight too.

I think manny wins this fight. Nate has looked really impressive in his last three fights no doubt, but I think that as soon as Nate meets someone with great sub defence he will drop a decission loss. You can’t sub everyone from your back. Ask BJ Penn

Diaz is on a more elite level, but would still be entertaining to see what sub diaz to pull off on ”manvil”

to all the diaz critics…this kid is only 22 and nowhere near his prime yet! he’s so far ahead of the game it’s not funny. i was disappointed in how the first one ended and would like to see the rematch. manny has shown in the TUF show and now in the UFC how good he is and so has nate. let ‘em fight. after seeing how diaz always recovers after his 1st rounds, i say he wins in 2nd round submission. by the way, not everyone has to wait a long time for a rematch…just look at bonnar and griffin. both of their fights were pretty good.

ok, manny totally would have been diaz in the TUF finale if he hadnt poped out his shoulder. Nate almost lost his last fight. Plus nate is a c**** sob. Go manny all the way.

  • charles said:

everybody almost looses their fights lol. anything can happen, matt serra beat GSP. its funny how everyone argues over who is gonna win or loose, just shut up and watch the fights.

  • 2girls1cup said:

he is cocky, assuming that’s what c**** means, but he also backs it up. he’s not like a melvin guilard where he loses a fight and then talks all kinds of shit after. plus, he’s not really a dick about things, i think he’s respectful as long as he feels he’s getting the same in return. for bein 22 and a diaz, i’d say the kid has a good head on his shoulders.

  • 2girls1cup said:

btw, did anyone catch nick diaz after nate beat pellegrino? he seems to be chillin out too lately as far as the super crazy wanna kill you mentality goes. could be cuz it wasn’t his fight, but i hope it’s a sign of him maturing cuz i’d love to see that guy back in the octagon. especially to fight karo when nate fights manny.
