From MMAJunkie.com:
Jake O’Brien (10-1 MMA, 4-1 UFC), a 23-year-old heavyweight who suffered his first professional loss to Andrei Arlovski in March, has been released from the UFC and has agreed to a two-fight deal with the Palace Fighting Championship.
O’Brien joins a growing list of fighters who have recently been released by the UFC. He will make his PFC debut on July 19th.

who else has been released other than this guy and tim sylvia
neither was a great loss really, they are just trimming the fat
why get rid of the kid.. he was 10-1… come on… the should have kept him… Cuz we all know A. Arlovski is out too..
what fat is the ufc trimming they need more hw’s because this class is very weak right now! this is the most boring weight class in the whole ufc org. dana needs to do something!
They are trimming their roster down but given the status of the heavyweight division its a pretty extreme process. To cut a former-champion who just lost a chance at the title and O’Brien just lost his first career fight. Not to mention that they also let Cro Cop go not long ago.
Word has it a lot of guys are getting cut because the roster grew so large. The exact number isn’t known but there were over 200 fighters on the UFC payroll and unless they’re going to do a lot more events or fights per card the roster needed trimmed down, I just don’t get why they’re cutting the fighters they are.
they need to axe the hw division and bring in the featherweights and bantaweights
couldn’t agree more huerta
i agree too huerta, those fights on WEC are pretty damn good!
