Chris Leben Turned Self In On Probation Violation To Get Visa For UFC 85 Bout
ICON Sport’s T. Jay Thompson posted the following message earlier today on The Underground to clear up the situation surrounding Chris Leben’s arrest for a probation violation in Oregon:
Chris Leben was not arrested this week for DUI.
When Chris moved to Hawaii he was in the process of completing classes for his probation on an old DUI in Portland Oregon. We worked hard to get his probation transferred to Hawaii but were unsuccessful.
When he got the call to fight Bisping on June 7th in London he knew what he had to do.
He immediately flew to Oregon and turned himself in on the probation violation. The warrant was a “no bail” warrant so he will have to sit in jail for 8-10 days before he gets a hearing. The moment he appeared before the judge after turning himself in the warrant was revoked and he is able to get his VISA for London.
Chris is in excellent shape and will finish his training camp with the help of Matt Hume.
Chris has worked hard the past year to grow both physically, mentally and spiritually. The actions he took to make this fight happen in London show this growth. Chris would like everyone to know he accepts responsibility for his past actions and will face the consequences and continue forward on his journey.

Leben (18-4) is scheduled to face off with Michael Bisping at UFC 85 “Bedlam” on June 7th in London, England. “The Cripler†is 8-3 inside the UFC octagon with wins over Jason Thacker, Patrick Cote, Edwin Dewees, Jorge Rivera, Luigi Fioravanti, Jorge Santiago, Terry Martin, and Alessio Sakara and losses to Anderson Silva, Jason MacDonald, and Kalib Starnes. He last fought in March at UFC 82, defeating Sakara via first round TKO.
Maybe the previous piece should be taken down, or at least all the negative comments on him?
I just went through the comments and only found one that was out of line and it was promptly deleted. Everyone (surprisingly) stayed within the lines and stuck to the story for the most part. Obviously when it was posted it was breaking news and now we know a little more but all in all he’s still sitting in jail for up to 10 days and most people addressed that, and not him personally, in their comments.
leben is like serra to me. despite my efforts, i can’t help but like the guy. i never saw the 1st season of tuf so i dunno what he was like on that, but the fact that he’s owning up to his actions and possibly destroying bisping makes him ok in my book. god i hope he ko’s bisping!
Good to see that my comments in the other thread were off base. Hopefully being in the pokey for 10 days won’t hurt his training, he should still be able to do cardio, etc. while in.

leben is a top contender in his weight class if he wins this one he should have a tittle shot its going to be a good fight but i think leben will knock out bisping in the first or second
Was very glad to hear that Leben’s legal troubles are from prior charges, and that he hasn’t gone astray from the positive direction he’s been heading in. It’s hard to deny that Leben was an asshole on TUF 1, but it is apparent that he has made significant progress in his attitude, behavior and fighting ability. I’ve grown kind of the guy. I loved that astounded look on his face when he came back from the dark side to knock out Terry Martin in the 3rd round. The fight with Sakara was awesome as well; I believe he got KO of the night honors for his performance. I think Leben really needs this win if he is ever going to be in serious title contention, considering his brutal loss to A. Silva.
Well that’s good news! Go get him Chris, and it sounds as if he does have everthing in order. Leben for President!
leben didnt know who silva was when he fought him so he wasnt ready for him he had to introduce silva to the ufc. when he beat leben i hated silva and when he beat rich i hated him even more, but when he beat rich the second time i reailized he was a freak and i couldnt wait to watch his next fight. and if leben smashes bisping like he should (dont get me worng i like bisping alot) then he should have his titel bout with silva and this second fight should be badass also f*** steve mazzigotti he calls bullshit fights always seemes to piss me off by making a premature stoppage or not standing them up when he should i say get rid of his ass
i am glad they let him go cause he does have quite a chin against guys not names anderson silva. so it will be a good test for bisping but im afraid to say that leban is a nice firm stepping stone which is getting stepped on come ufc 85.
its funny how many of you think leben is going to hurt bisping. the count is gonna look just as awesome as he did against mccarthy and destroy leben. then bisping vs silva for the belt. should be interesting.
to be honest, this may be genius at work on the part of leben. think about it, we all know bisping is gay. so how else do you train for a fight with him? that’s right people, go to jail where you’re fighting to keep your butt virginity the whole time! he’s gonna come out knowing all the gay moves that bisping is gonna throw at him.

I didn’t think Leben was an a-hole on TUF1. He is just an emotional guy and at that time he was very immature. Koscheck and Southworth came across as the a-holes when they turned the hose on Chris while he tried to sleep outside so everything could calm down. Leben did piss on a bed but that is more dirty than assholish.

That is just about the funniest thing I’ve heard since Kalib Starnes sex change earlier this week. It’s true, Kalib Starnes will be joining Elite XC to fight as a woman pending a physical next month after his stitches are removed.
Great news, really can’t wait to see this fight. Once its over all Leben will have to do is remove the letter ‘r’ from his nickname & it will fit him perfectly.
In my experience, people who express a specific standpoint so vehemently are often attempting to demonstate a kind of reverse psycology. They are in a way trying to convince themselves they are not what their bigotted views suggest. For examply, Hitler claimed not to be a racist!! As such it occurs to me that people like rutdog & kelvin are in fact raging closet homesexuals? I think thats it……..rutdog & kelvin are kings of the reach around!!!!!!!!

jpm you obviusly dont watch leben fight so let me fill you in so you wont be so upset they are gonna dance around trading good punchs then bisping is gonna look like hes got the best of him and he’ll catch a hard one during one of the trades
regardeless of who wins if they have a good fight then the loser shouldn’t be looked down on at all beacuse it could go either way quick but its gonna go the way i just told you
