UFC 87: Tamdan McCrory vs. Luke Cummo
- By: Kris Karkoski | May 17, 2008
Tamdan McCrory will return to the UFC in August following a brief layoff while completing college at SUNY Cortland to take on Luke Cummo in a welterweight bout at UFC 87 on August 9th in Minnesota, according to Fight Ticker.
McCrory (10-1) will look to bounce back against Cummo after suffering his first career loss against Akihiro Gono at UFC 78 in November via second round submission. After going 7-0 in a variety of promotions, including Cage Fury Fighting Championship, McCrory defeated veteran Pete Spratt via second round submission in his UFC debut at UFC Fight Night 10 this past June.
Cummo (6-5) came to the UFC in late-2005 by way of The Ultimate Fighter 2. After winning two bouts in the competition, Cummo was defeated by Joe Stevenson via decision on the finale of the season. Despite the loss he remained in the UFC but has had mixed success, defeating Jason Von Flue, Josh Haynes, and Edilberto de Olivera while dropping additional UFC bouts to Jonathan Goulet and, most recent, Luigi Fioravanti at UFC 82 in March. He is well known to fight fans due to his stint on the show and his unorthodox diet.
According to the report, George Sotiropoulos has also been added to the August fight card, though his opponent has not yet been released.

i’ve always wondered why cummo hasn’t had more success. he seemed pretty good on the show and he’s an animal during the fight. reminds me of guida the way he leaves everything on the mat.

Very good fight between two solid fighters but I suspect it might be win or be released as one of them is going to have lost back-to-back fights after this one. Solid fight.
