Forrest was given a gift victory. Marvin Hagler and Quinton Jackson both got screwed by the Vegas judges. Move all fights out of Vegas until they learn how to judge a fight. Un-educated judges ruin the sport of MMA.

Pete,
I agree. I also feel Rampage is getting the reputation and respect from the average fans he deserves now. At first a lot of people did not like him probably because he beat Liddell and were unaware of his Pride background. Rampage is still badass and there was something wrong with him last night. He was just “off.” What a great sport. Anderson Silva is still going to dominate all these LHW.
even in defeat rampage is hilarious “i got my ass whooped” i almost crapped myself when he picked forrest up for the powerbomb i was like how stupid is forrest to try for a triangle but that was like the only highlight for rampage so well played forrest well played

I agree 100% with Rampage. We had a mixed bag of Forrest and Rampage supporters at my place for the fight. Nobody gave it to Forrest. One person had it a draw (10-10 third round). Everyone else has it 48-47 Rampage.
I remember having the same feeling as Hamill v Bisbing when the decision was announced… I was pretty surprised. I think a lot of it comes down to how you score fights. Different people have different opinions on scoring points.
I also agree with the unsaid rule of “You got to beat the champ.” I felt Rampage won, and figured this little rule would solidify it even more. I guess not.

MIKEMICK,
I understand the rule of “you have to beat the champ,” but in this case it would have been the worst title defense in the history of the UFC. I see this as a big difference between boxing, kick boxing and MMA. MMA demands you “defend” your title. Maybe I’m wrong……it’s just how I see it. With Tim Sylvia gone the UFC can continue this wonderful tradition of forcing the champ to fight for his title.

After rewatching the fight, Rampage lost. Not because he was really hurt with anything, but because Forrest was the aggressor and more active. I feel that Rampage didn’t really bring his “A” game and took this fight lightly. They should have Rampage fight either Wanderlai Silva or Lyoto Machida and whoever wins gets the next title shot after Chuck Liddell.

either way this fight could’ve gone, you could argue that it should’ve been the other way. it was pretty close but i have to say that the one knock down rampage had in the first round wasn’t as big as the leg damage he received in the 2nd. that was definetly a 10-8 round in my opinion. as for the last few rounds, it looked like forest was the one pressing forward which is one of the ways you win rounds….octagon control. i love both these guys and i think it’s better that forrest won cuz it keeps him in the picture while rampage will also remain in the title race. had forest lost this fight, along with the jardine ko, it would’ve made it difficult for him to ever get back to this level and it wouldn’t have done much for jackson since he was the favorite.

KOuch,
So you didn’t think Rampage “defended” his title? I thought he was done after the 2nd round. I thought his knee was shot. I thought he had one of the most gutsiest performances of the year by coming back, and being as effective as he was (reminiscent of Couture vs Rizzo, but not as remarkable). I knew he was a fighter, but he showed me more heart than I thought he was capable of. I feel the comparison you drew to his title defense compared to Sylvia’s defenses is inaccurate. At no time did I feel he was trying to coast to a victory. I whole-heartedly felt he was trying to finish the fight. I can accept the argument that Rampage lost (even though I don’t agree with it), but to say he wasn’t defending his title a la Tim Sylvia is a little ridiculous.
