Jesse Taylor vs. CB Dollaway Officially Announced For UFC Fight Night 14

By: | Jul 8,2008

Jesse TaylorAfter one of the most controversial ousters in the history of “The Ultimate Fighter”, Jesse Taylor will make his return to the Octagon as he squares off against fellow castmember and “The Ultimate Fighter 7″ runner-up C.B. Dollaway in the first televised bout at UFC FIGHT NIGHT 14 in Las Vegas on Saturday, July 19 (9:00 PM ET/6:00 PM PT).

Training out of Temecula, CA with Team Quest, Taylor was a juggernaut during his time on “The Ultimate Fighter 7”, rolling through Nick Rossborough in his preliminary elimination fight via rearnaked choke, defeating Mike Dolce in the same manner, and utilizing his dominant ground and pound technique in winning both his quarterfinal bout with Dante Rivera and semifinal bout against Tim Credeur via decisions. However, Taylor was kicked out of the show’s finale after violating UFC conduct policy after the show finished filming. Taylor has since proven that he is mentally ready for the responsibility of representing the UFC both inside and outside of the Octagon, and a second chance has been granted with a matchup against C.B. Dollaway.

A 24 year old hailing from Mount Gilhead, OH who went on to a tremendous college wrestling career at Arizona State University, Dollaway is looking to bounce back from his disappointing rematch loss to Amir Sadollah at “The Ultimate Fighter 7 Finale” last month. Leading up to that fight, his pedigree, and dominant showing in his elimination match to get into the house, led to his being selected number one overall to Team Rampage. From there, Dollaway defeated Team Forrest’s Nick Klein via guillotine choke in his preliminary bout and handled Cale Yarbrough in his quarterfinal bout to reach the semifinals against the aforementioned Sadollah. Though he dropped that matchup via submission due to armbar, he was given a second chance after Taylor’s dismissal, and defeated Tim Credeur via decision to earn his rematch with Sadollah. Though he came up short in his chance at becoming “The Ultimate Fighter”, Dollaway is a promising talent and will provide an extremely stiff test in welcoming Taylor back to the Octagon.

This one aggravates me.. So much for the UFC holding Taylor responsible.

i think cb’s in for some whooping. I mean look how jessie dominated everyone becuase of his size. Cb shouldn’t have taken the fight, he should have cut weight instead and movies to WW. I think almost everyone is going to do that. I think jessie is the only one that actually cuts weight to get to 185.

  • hamsterwheel said:

almost everyone from the show i mean

  • Rydawg said:

BORING!!!! JT$ by una. decision but like I said before the only way this will be entertaining is if they double KO each other that would be awesome!

  • Curtis said:

    we can’t be that lucky

  • Dietrich said:

He lost his spotlight and the big contract and looked like a jerk in front of the nation. He’s in AA lets start letting him rebuild his life. And no I am not a fan…

  • Curtis said:

If Ricky Williams can play football again Taylor can fight.

I expect the Boo Birds to be out in full force for him that night.

BORING………… I dont think I need or have to say anymore

  • Henry said:

I have to watch it just for the simple fact that it will probably be fight of the freaking year since everyone(including myself) thinks it will be more boring than the Cote/Almeida fight the other night.

  • GSP said:

it’s freeeeeeee, who gives a crap?? freeeeeeeeee

  • Henry said:

I guess every time Goldberg said FREE in reference to the fight on the 19th GSP was listening. lol. I swear the man said it at least 17 times.

  • KOuch said:

It’s just going to be a wrestling match where they lay on each other. Neither one seems to have any G&P or ground game aside from tittlywinks.

the fight i really want to see is JT$ vs that limosine in a rematch other then that screw jesse taylor hes nepolian dynamite on roids

  • buddy said:

If taylor is a little over weight at the weigh ins perhaps he’ll just step back and piss through his shorts and get back on the scales. wouldnt surprise me

  • dirtydan said:

well said JT is an idiot and an discrace. i do think all fighter should recieve a second chance. but what what taylor did diserves more punishment. dana is just trying to capitalize on tuf viewers recognizing both of these nobodys nanmes they both suck

  • Brandon said:

biggest problem I have with JT isn’t his drinking. He made himself look like a jackass and it’ll take years to come back from that. Look at Chris Leban, he’s still looked at as a jackass. The biggest problem I have is I think JT beats a LOT of MW’s. He’s a great wrestler with a LOT of stamina, and can GnP ppl for 15 minutes straight, not damaging by any means but active GnP and pretty good at avoiding the submission, so he’ll do well against guys like Belcher, Marvin Eastman, Kendall Grove, leban, and a few others, but against a really well rounded striker like Cote, A. Silva (a freak of nature btw), Bisping and a few more he’ll get KTFO’d. He’s too one dimentional and he leaves himself WIDE open for strikes.

  • hamsterwheel said:

Cote is so overrated. Everyone saw it in the fight against almeida. Cote knocked out kendall grove…kendell gets ko’d easily, not that big of a surprise when you look at the body size. Cote did good against drew. But come on. Cote is saying he can knock anyone in the division with one punch. Bullshit. Cote sucks and should have lost the fight. He def should not get the title shot after yushin okami. I mean he lost 4 in a row. Then won 4. He should fight a top 10 or 5 guy in the division. Then he will be exposed that he sucks and doesn’t have ko power with one punch….BRandon

  • Champagne said:

how should he have lost? its not his fault he stuffed almeida’s takedowns… its not his fault almeida wouldnt show his “improved” standup against cote

  • Rydawg said:

Cote is gonna wet the bed and have nightmares after his fight w/ Anderson Silva…he has no chance in hell!

  • kelvin said:

don’t care for either of these guys…JT is booooooring to watch and CB is an arrogant moron who tapped out twice and was even a big baby by complaining about the 2nd time he tapped.

  • Java said:

I’m glad to see JT’s working on getting his life in control, but I still think it’s a little early to let him back in. Make him prove that he can handle the lifestyle of being a fighter for a little while before letting him back in.

I think the fight will be pretty damn boring, but as people have pointed out, it’s free, and who knows, we could be wrong.

And not to be a complete dick, but:
“chris leben has done a full 360 since his tuf days and hes a force to be reckond with.”
a complete 360 would be pointing Chris right down the same path he was on during tuf, I’m pretty sure you mean a complete 180.

Even though it has only been a few weeks for you, it has been 5 months that Jesse has been suspended. That’s long enough

  • 2girls2cups said:

k, there’s some differences in JT vs most of the other dudes that got kicked off. I’m not a fan, and i don’t hate the guy, so i feel pretty unbiased. it appears that he does have a problem with alcohol and most of his antics originated from that. when sober, he seemed like a pretty good guy. when drunk, different story.

now look at joey. the dude gave up in the fight, then the house, then the friendship. all while sober. the guys’ just a puss so why should he get a second chance when he didn’t want the first? and lobster and the other dudes that got kicked off for fighting, i would say they maaaaay deserve another shot exept that I don’t think they were at that point just cuz of alcohol. also, they didn’t do shit on the show so who cares if they come back, no one’s gonna watch. now gabe, i actually feel kinda bad for and would like to see him get another shot cuz he’s not a bad fighter and he was pretty apoligetic.

bottom line, JT’s a young guy with some issues, he’s addressed them and now he’s getting a 2nd chance. don’t be too mad at the guy. it’s not like he won a shitty decision against a deaf guy and then went on to brag about it like some jackass!

  • huertarogerhuerta said:

hahahaha did i just really read give gay gabe ruediger another shot? he came on TUF to act not to fight and thats bullshit thats almost as bad as noah (from season 3) leaving for his gf he dated for like 3 months or some shit they should definatly give noah(from season 5) and marlin a shot and make that fight happen before they give those wonderhomo twins a shot

  • Kows666 said:

Jesse Taylor is a joke. He is about as dumb as a sack of hammers. I HATE C.B Dollaway but C.B. is going to spank Jesse. I am predicting a first round submission win for C.B.

  • Dietrich said:

The faster he gets in the ring the faster we all can get over what had to be one of the dumbest endings of a TV show ever.Favorite line from the final 15 minutes “This is my town…” Dana White

  • 2girls2cups said:

    huertarogerhuerta,

i felt the same way about ruediger till i read an interview with him. he fully admitted to actin like a jackass on the show and quite honestly came off looking a little more mature in the article then i would’ve thought. plus, i’ve seen his fights, he could be fun to watch. i wouldn’t be surprised to see him win the show were it not for the weight thing. and yes, he was a bit of a cry baby, but not as bad as noah, or joey for that matter. not in my opinion anyway.

  • huertarogerhuerta said:

idk id say all 3 were shmucks mayb gabe just sticks out cuz he fought in the ufc and someone whos seen the bright lights to basically piss away there shot really grinds my gears like y wouldnt u do everything in ur power to turn into a mega star in the biggest promotion did he think acting would make him a bigger star then winning the show would? and lastly i think corey hill wouldve tore him up anyway

  • Dietrich said:

6 more months of training Corey wins that fight.I hope he jumps to WW soon.(6′3″ 155)The guy needs to eat a hamburger.

  • SGT D said:

Cut JT a break. People make mistakes. I know some of you have, he is no different then anyone else. He was going to be in the TUF Final. He went out drinking and his friends prob blew up his head. A lot of emotions running around. Like the one guy said when he was sober, he was a good guy. Drunk different story. Well I am in iraq so I just finished watching TUF 7 great season and still have not got to see the UFC 86 highlights. Does anyone know where I can watch it at??

  • Phat Joe Tatman said:

CB will win this one hands down i went to high school with him and this boy has heart jessie will be too hung over to fight anyone GO CB

  • Brian Goatman said:

As a recovering addict myself, I sympathize with Jesse and wish him the best of luck. I hope for his sake that he can control himself outside the octagon. I, for one, am very much looking forward to this fight, I think both fighters are exciting to watch and believe that CB is just too talented to lose to JT. I also believed that there was no way in hell that CB would ever lose to Amir though, so I could be wrong about this one. One thing is for sure though… I won’t be buying the Affliction card. Besides Fedor-Sylvia, there’s not a single fight worth the money.
