Quinton Jackson Arraignment Postponed
The arraignment for former UFC light heavyweight champion Quinton “Rampage” Jackson on felony charges stemming from a July hit and run incident, which was to take place on Friday, has been postponed, according to Sherdog:
“The district attorney’s office is responsible for filing charges and that case is still under investigation based on some new evidence that has been discovered,” said Farrah Emami, spokesperson for the Orange County District Attorney’s Office.
Emami said Jackson, 30, would be notified of a new court appearance date once charges have been filed. Emami could not provide a timeline as to when the district attorney’s office, in conjunction with the Costa Mesa police department, would complete its initial investigation.
“There were different incidents that occurred in different jurisdictions. There was Highway Patrol, there was Costa Mesa, there was Newport Beach. We’re looking at all of this as one potential case,†said Emami. “The recommendations of the police are taken into consideration, but it could be more charges or less charges, depending on what the evidence reports.â€
Jackson lost the 205-pound UFC title to Forrest Griffin via unanimous decision at UFC 86 in July.

How the mighty have fallen. They must be mulling over charges or negotiating over some kind of deal. I hope he gets his act together, he is one of my favorite fighters and people do deserve second chances. He was not responsible for the womans miscarrage and doesn’t deserve being charged for it.
First
I wonder what the new evidence is? We all know Dana’s lawyers are top notch (i.e. Couture) so, for once, I hope they do their job properly and get Jackson off UNLESS somehow it gets proven that the miscarriage was directly linked to him.
i dont think the miscarriage has anything to do with the new evidence… the more i think about it the more it makes me think that she was blaming him cause he was famous nad has the potential for a big cash out…
jiujitsuMAN we’ve been through this before. Nobody has blamed anybody yet. No civil lawsuit has been filed and no money is trying to be gotten that has yet to be reported.
Last I checked in this country you are innocent until proven guilty…that includes Rampage…but it also includes the lady with the miscarriage. So before we go off bashing her again…keep that in mind.
ya in the usa you are innocent until proven guilty, but thats only if you havent been shot first or had the patriot act used on you…
im not bashing her, and as far as im concerned rampage is guilty, and if he pleas otherwise then he should be sent to pound ya in the arse prison, and i like rampage… but most likely he will plea guilty, be forced to pay restituion, and do some community work, as well as ad-hear to a proper diet to prevent any further episodes of dilerium…
also the fact that she hasnt filed any law suits, makes the initial claims all that more questionable…
He’s doing at least a year. Lets see.. he’ll get a hit and run charge, evading law enforcement, a charge for every traffic law he broke (speeding, running lights, reckless driving, reckless endangerment, etc…), and there is always the possibility of a manslaughter charge stemming from the miscarriage. Ouch. Anyone else remember the episode of TUF when Rampage told his team to “push him off you like you in prison and he tryin’ to get your booty”? He might find that move very useful soon.
I’m wondering if the “new evidence” is a psych eval. Any sort of physical explanation (i.e. chemical imbalance in the brain) or psychological disorder confirmed by the state’s shrink is going to go a long way to determining what, if anything, he is charged with.
Based on how he has fought - insanely well one fight, sluggish and slow and almost unmotivated the next - I have long wondered if he isn’t bi-polar and either in denial or even undiagnosed.
In Dana’s interviews with the score.com he said rampage’s reason for acting that way he was exhaustion from not eating after his fight with Forrest and that he’s going to do anything to get Rampage back in. Hey if Pacman Jones can get back in the NFL after shooting a strip club, then Rampage can get away with a little hit and run haha
He wont be charged for manslaughter becaue California doesnt recognize a fetus as a person…so i say as do most people either no jail time or 30-90 days at most in jail
Kipler,
I kind of figured that would be the case since California is so liberal. I live on the east coast though so I don’t know much about cali law but I’m sure there could be some sort of charge for the miscarriage incident (at least an expensive civil suit). Either way the rest of the charges are enough to put him away for a while. Barring some sort of psychological thing.
Man it’s scary how quickly things can change. Heard about Rampage getting involved in a hit & run, but hadn’t heard about the mis carriage thing as well. That sounds a pretty f*cked up situation.
