Quinton Jackson Signs Three-Year Deal With Wolfslair

By: Kris Karkoski | Aug 28, 2008

Quinton JacksonFormer UFC light heavyweight champion Quinton “Rampage” Jackson has signed a three-year deal with Wolfslair fight team in England.

Fighters Only revealed the signing on Wednesday.

“I feel like Wolfslair can make me go farther than I have been; I’m really excited about being able to travel there to train. The guys on the team, they like to laugh and joke around but they train hard and that’s me, that’s what I like to do,” said Jackson to Fighters Only. “What better team to join than one called Wolfslair? I’m a werewolf. It was my destiny. People don’t understand destiny but I do. Wolfslair is the most perfect team for me.”

teaming up with the count and paul kelly, rampage has that english humor many americans dont understand so i can see why he would want to make this move plus who wouldn’t want to train with the best mma fighter on the planet michael “the count” bisping

  • TJ said:

Yeah I think the count was absoluetly responsible for Rampage heading over to England. From what I understand they are pretty good friends.

Does Terry Etim fight with Wolfslair too?

  • Wolf said:

It seems like a strange move to be honest as i would have thought he could have gone to Greg Jacksons camp, AKA, ATT or any other top camp.

I hope it works out for him and obviously this has to be the biggest coup of the year by far MMA

  • Craigus77 said:

Its a fantastic move for english mma to have a former light heavy world champ train in england with wolfslair and fight stateside, english mma keep making small steps in the ufc and bisping, kelly and now rampage are all doing there bit so maybe one day the brits can be taken seriuosly in the mma world, i still feel that bisping is gonna get his bell rung if he ever steps in the octagon with andrson silva though but he’s got a better chance than ian”the machine” freeman ever did of breaking into a title shot

  • kelvin said:

    JOHNBOY,

somebody must’ve hit you in the head really hard b/c you had to have meant “WORST” fighter on the plantet. BISPING SUCKS!

  • JOHNBOY said:

again english humor kelvin but bisping does not suck u will see when he kicks lebens ass then goes on to challenge the spider

  • timcat said:

Bisping is not the best fighter on the planet. Why did he move to middleweight? To avoid Matt Hammill thats why. Rampage must be out of his mind. Dellagrote would have been a better choice.

  • JOHNBOY said:

why the f*ck would he want to avoid matt hammill r u a retard he beat him once he’d beat him again, rampage had alot to do with the count moveing weight so get ur facts right if ur guna say summat

  • Wolf said:

He moved to Middleweight to beat Silva **** ass and any other fan boy flavour of the month ;)

  • Phovos said:

To Johnboy - He beat Hammill?!?!?! Yeah he did. He also did it in England, in a controversial fashion. No offense, but please don’t come onto these boards and portray Bisping as the clear winner in that fight.
I actually liked that guy. I really did. Then I saw the match. I saw him win. I saw/heard host post fight interview, and saw what a schmuck he was!
He’s good, but he didn’t win that match. Just like if it was held in the States, Hammill would’ve taken the decision. Ugh…………

  • Dietrich said:

    ?????????

  • Wolf said:

He is right Johnboy as Brit i hate to say this but Hammill did beat Bisping Convincingly and was robbed.

But he definitely beat Rashad “how the hell am i still undefeated” Evans 29-28

But fear not Evans unbeaten record will be gone September 6

  • regoillin said:

Oh no! Rampage driving on the LEFT side of the road might cause an international incident. Then again he seems to like the sidewalk better anyway.

Fact is that Bisping beat Hammill and lost to Evans. He’s very dangerous. I would bet everything I own that Bisping beats Leben by KO or TKO before the third round. That’s going to piss off a lot of the Bisping haters but I don’t care.

  • Phovos said:

I hate Leben too. He is pretty annoying. I could care less about who wins, as long as they put on a great fight!

  • JOHNBOY said:

it was in the uk so thats why he won? let me just point out the two judges that scored the fight to bisping were american and the judge who gave it to hammill was english so what have u got to say about that?

and im just saying what i saw and what the record book says an that is a win to the count now get over it, cos ive had so many arguements over this topic its getting boreing, the count won end of story!

  • YZFOXRACING said:

OH HERE WE GO AGAIN LIVING IN THE PAST… PEOPLE NEED TO GET OVER WHAT HAPPEN IN THE PAST. BISPING IS A TOUGH “NEW” FIGHTER GIVE HIM SOME REPECT AND WHEN HE BEATS LEBEN EVERYONE IS GONNA MAKE UP EXCUSES. AND IM FROM THE STATES AND I REALLY LIKE BISPING… HE PROBABLY MY FAVORITE MW FIGHTER…

  • JOHNBOY said:

if only every1 was like u YZ the world would be a better place lol

  • MJG said:

    Interesting.

Wolf’s Lair isn’t far from me so if Rampage is training there I might make an effort to go have a look (in a non-stalker way).

  • kouch said:

I think this is good for Rampage. A change of scenery and culture for a while should do him some good. It will be like being on vacation while working. I’m not sure why but I really feel for the guy after his breakdown. I just want him to go train, become an animal again and destroy his way back into title contention.

  • kouch said:

    Timcat,

Matt Hamill does not pose that big of a threat. You say some funny stuff sometimes.

  • trey_trey said:

everyone seems to forget that he has felony charges against him. he may not be going anywhere but the pokey!

  • WM said:

How does Rampage plan on training in England for three years with his pending charges? He should be signing a long term deal with the energy drink company that he used to f**k himself up in the first place. He and Bisping may very well be the dumbest fighters on the planet.

  • YZFOXRACING said:

HA HA HA I LIKE THE ENERGY REMARK… NICE

  • muaythai4life said:

So am I the only one who has never heard of a fighter singing a contract to commit to train somewhere? Isn’t that ussually just pre-supposed that if a fighter does well then he will continue to train at a certain place? I never heard of fighters signing deals and/or getting paid to train at a spacific place….

Other than that I think it’s a bad move for ‘page. Even Michael Bisping said that he got more out of training in Big Bear with Rampages team than he got back in England with the Wolf’s Lair. And that because the talent of MMA in the states is higher than in England. But what ever floats his boat.

  • Arnold Darkshner said:

I’m no legal expert but I have heard of people’s passports being taken away if they plead guilty to felonies or are placed on probation. Both of which might be coming in Rampages future.

  • fr702 said:

I don’t think that Rampage can leave the country with two felony charges against him, he has to ask the Judge at the very least…..
Bisbing is talented and won against Hammill even tho anyone who wactched the fight knows that was a bs decision and should have gone to Hammill, Bisning is the best fighter in the world Bo Cantrell is

O and BJ gassed v GSP, Rampage got out struck by Griffin (then went insane) and Starnes is a track star unlike Machida who is talented, just throwing some more old stuff to argue about

  • fr702 said:

    Bisbing *isnt*

  • THUWAK said:

Is he forgetting he may go to prison… or be on Probation… which may mean he wont be able to travel…. Or did i miss sumthing… oh yeah money = freedom…..

  • Leo said:

I like the move get away from all the drama.. They train hard over there and Rampage will be on top again. And all the haters need to stop trash talking Bisping the guy is one hell of a fighter he’s going to make a statment in the MM division

  • Leo said:

Leave the fcking hammel fight alone geez… All he was doing was talking him dowmn anyways there’s a reason everyone is hating on bisping BECAUSE HE’S GOOD.. it’s getting real old hearing everyone talknig sht about him

  • Jeremy said:

Wolfslair isn’t specific to training folks. read what it says on mmajunkie.com about this. they are basically his management now. he is still planning on training mostly in cali. but when he does travel to england he will train their as part of their fight team.
as for everyone who is living in the past about bisping beating hammel face it. the count won. hammel lost. hammel isn’s still dwelling on it so why are all of you.
i think bisping beat evans but thats not how the judges scored it. bisping isn’t dwelling on that just like hammel isn’t dwelling on his loss. those people that scored the fight do it for a living so let them do their job. they obviously did something right to get them to that position.

  • Dietrich said:

Give him a redbull and the keys to a 4runner and he will sign with Fedor’s team…

  • Smitty said:

he ****ed up!!! why the hell would he train with the brits? they suck!!! bisping suck, kelly sucks and the queen sucks!!!

  • Phovos said:

    “JOHNBOY says:
it was in the uk so thats why he won? let me just point out the two judges that scored the fight to bisping were american and the judge who gave it to hammill was english so what have u got to say about that?”

Exactly what I said above if you bothered to read. The venue was in the UK. I don’t care what nationality the judges were. Just in case you don’t know anything about sports, because it seems like you’re just talking out of your ass - HOME TEAMS GET MORE BREAKS! HOME TEAMS GET MORE CALLS! It was a close fight, and he won. It’s a win, congrats, but I don’t think he would’ve won if they fought here in the States. That’s my opinion. Don’t like it? I don’t care. I don’t like your opinion, but I respect it. Try doing that please.

  • Dannyboy said:

Are timcats posts being removed? I didn’t even see what he said that KOuch was responding to.

‘the count’ did not beat Hammill.

I wish Rampage had picked an American fight club to be a part of. Ah well.

  • Jeremy said:

look at the records dannyboy. hammel lost to bisping period. face facts cause that’s what it is. there is no * next to it. it’s a fact in the history books. so that’s what it is HISTORY.

  • Ryan-S said:

    Craigus77, you said
” i still feel that bisping is gonna get his bell rung if he ever steps in the octagon with andrson silva though but he’s got a better chance than ian”the machine” freeman ever did of breaking into a title shot”

well mate, did you even see Ian Freeman beat the living crap out of Frank Mir in the brawl at royal albert hall ? He destroyed Mir like he was a flipping amateur mate, don’t diss The MAchine, he gave Mir the hiding of a lifetime, better than ANYONE else I have seen.

How many others will back me up here ?

  • 2girls2cups said:

man this is messin with my head. i love rampage but hate bisping. hahaha, oh well, i don’t have to like a guy just cuz of who he trains with. i just hope you brits have a big enough supply of asian girls over there or rampage might go crazy again. best of luck to the guy, hopefully he knocks bisping out in practice so that the count will know what to expect if and when he fights someone with talent. btw, where does paul taylor train? of all the brit fighters, he’s the one I really like. and ross pointon? is he even fighting still?

  • Willy D said:

MMAWeekly reports Rampage might be on the UFC 91 card here in Portland. If he fights Shogun, KenFlo vs Stevenson, and the possible Lesnar/Kongo, I can’t wait to see that card live.

  • jazzkok said:

Whoever is saying that bisping beat hamill is seriously and disturbingly retarded!!! That has to be the most bull$hit decision in the history of MMA period.

Second of all, someone please educate me, and tell me who’s in wolf’s lair. Please name all the fighters so i know.

Bisping sucks a$$ and is going to lose to leben

  • Ryan-S said:

    Paul McBride
    Henrique Cesar Noqueira “Choco”
    Jay Keiron
    Mick Bowman
    Lee Barnes
    Lukasz Les
Jack McGann (only 14 years old)
    David `CFD` Johnson
    Gary Kelly

Hope the list helps mate. That was all that was on the site anyhow.

  • Ryan-S said:

oh……. and now Rampage aswell :)

  • BOB said:

    JOHNBOY,

You must have meant when Bisping goes on to challenge “The Predator”

  • 2girls2cups said:

absolutely no offense to any of the guys listed as members, but i would think that if rampage wanted to be the best, he’d go to a different camp like greg jacksons, extreme couture, delagrade… where top level fighters are there to train with. granted, maybe this is a better fit for him dynamic wise and there may be some unknown talent there so it might be a good move for him, but when i hear that guys are trainin with the likes of gsp, bj penn, noguera,…. i feel like they’re going to have a much more prepared training camp. and no offense again, but how does anyone from the US move to england and deal with the food? i’ve been there, it’s awful hahaha.

  • UFC fan said:

well he likes wolves and this is called wolfslair
and rampage will always be rampage

  • jazzkok said:

    Ryan S

    Thanks dude.

Doesn’t look like this camp has any special fighters. Paul Kelly looks like a tough dude though, but anyone that can truly help rampage hone his skills, not so much. I Agree with 2girls2cups, he would have been better off training with jackson, or couture. They have the best fighters, and rampage i believe is in fact one of the best right now.

  • Fedor goes nuts!!! said:

I’d say it isn’t the best choice for Rampage in terms of training regimen or partners, who could help him amp up his game.

  • ALL_VICTIM said:

bisping SHOULD of lost to hamill , bisping got OWNED in the 1st round BIG TIME,

if thats what makes Rampage happen all the best to him and i hope it works out for him

  • timcat said:

    Johnboy,

What fight were you watching? Hamill clearly beat his a$$ and got jobbed period! As for the retard comment, is that all you got? Come on man your gonna have to come stronger than that. And learn how to spell, your embarassing your self fool.

    Dannyboy,
No my post are not being removed. I was wrong. A couple were lost after Kris did some kind of update.

  • Leo said:

everyone is talking about the hammel fight what has matt hammel done since the bisping fight…? ummmmm nothing thats right if im not mistaken bisping is on the verge of getting a title shot…wonder if matt hammel will ever get a title shot HAHAHAHA yeah right!

  • Leo said:

The more u hate on bisping the more i luv it because the guy is simply immpressive at 185… keep hating…. hammel hahah he blows

  • 2girls2cups said:

hammil manhandled boetsch and is now fighting the former 185 champ rich franklin. bisping ran away from 205 and now is fighting leben, someone who’s not even top 5 in a weak MW division. don’t think for a second that just cuz bisping gets more hype he’s a more accomplished fighter. I won’t go so far as to say he sucks cuz quite honestly he is ok, but more important to the UFC he’s a very easy way to break into new markets which is why they’ve been spoon feeding him weak ass opponents. and if you think he’s on the verge of a title shot, you may be right but again, that’s got more to do with trying to establish a UK presence than it does with joe silva thinking that bisping might last more that 2 seconds with the spider. in fact, i’d go so far as to say that with the current state of affairs, hammil has a much better shot of one day bein a champ then bisping and he’s in a tougher weight class.

  • Rhymeskill15 said:

ummm…first off…bisping did lose to hammil!?!?!

but what is the arguement here!?!?!

accomplishment wise…bisping has done more than hammil…
and he looks great @ 185..
    but a title shot!???!
    not yet…
    he owned mccarthy…
if he wins his next fight should be quarry…
hes coming off 2 victories and i think it can be a challenge 4 bisping…
other fighters he should go have to fight before he is even worth enough to take on franklin…or someone like hendo…
    ummm marquardt…okami…what about herman!?!!?

i think ed n bis would be interesting!?!!?!?!?

  • Shelldigger said:

Ive been lurking here a while, enjoy the posts, and this is my first.

First off, Im with those who think Hammil got robbed. I was very much a fan of both guys (Hammil/Bisbing) right up till Bisping got the decision, and then started talking **** about Hammil, it takes an unprecedented amount of gall to talk **** right after you just had your ass handed to you. Bisping fan no more. I still think Bisping is a good fighter and will go a long way in this sport, but I saw his true nature and it pissed me off.

I also question Rampage moving to Wolfslair for training, but then again if I were him Id want to be as far away from my problems as I could be. Good luck to him wherever he goes.

  • Us And Chuck said:

So Wolfslair will provide prison training ?

  • DolfanG said:

Bisping screwed by the judges. The judges were wrong - flat out! Bisping sucks. I can’t wait to see him fight again so I can see him get his butt whipped by somebody else… I don’t even care who gets to do the whipping. How about Bisping vs. Rampage Jackson? That would be a fun “fight” to see.

  • DolfanG said:

Hamill beat Bisping is what I said, but somehow it didn’t come out. Hamill beat Bisping and then the judges screwed Hamill. Then Bisping showed what kind of man he is with his reaction in the ring. He’s a punk.

  • UFC fan said:

ya i dont like bisping hammil is awesome to bad hes deaf its kind of wierd listening talking to him

  • UFC fan said:

my bad its wierd hearing him talk

  • Bill C said:

Exactly how does he plan to fly to England with criminal charges against him? what if he gets a plea bargain (a much safer bet than trying the case, as he is caught dead to rights). if he gets some form of probation, then how does he expect to fly to England to train? does he think that perhaps the prosecutor’s office may be all over this one?

  • DolfanG said:

I don’t know nothing, but I’m not impressed with bisping, so why would these guys be interested in training with the people that haven’t really done that great with bisping? Maybe they knew bisping before he started there… With as many places as he could have chosen to go to train, I just don’t understand why Rampage chose Wolfslair. Maybe in a year he’ll be the dominate fighter in the world and then I’ll know…
