Tito Ortiz: Juanito Ibarra Is A Thief

By: Kris Karkoski | Sep 9, 2008

Quinton JacksonIn a recent interview with Punch Drunk Gamer MMA free agent Tito Ortiz discusses former UFC light heavyweight champion Quinton “Rampage” Jackson’s decision to change training camps from Juanito Ibarra to Team WolfsLair in the UK, going so far as to call Ibarra a “thief”.

Here’s a snip from Ortiz:

“Let me explain this to you because it really pisses me off that Ibarra has done what he has done, he is a thief. I have been running training camps for seven years up in Big Bear California and the most that my camp has cost a fighter to attend is $35,000. Ibarra was charging Jackson $65,000 to go to Big Bear. I don’t understand that!! He was being very disrespectful and taking advantage of ‘Rampage’. Including travel, training partners, food and lodging, the most ever was $35,000, maybe if you flew in more trainers…$40K. Where did that extra money go that Ibarra was charging? ‘Rampage’ is really pissed and he feels betrayed that he was taken advantage of and I couldn’t agree more with him. I don’t care if Juanito reads this or hears about it anywhere, he already knows that he is blackballed. I don’t care who you are; fighters work very hard for the money they earn and I feel slighted for even knowing Juanito.”

It is believed that when Jackson found out that Ibarra was overcharging him following his loss to Forrest Griffin in July at UFC 86 he went on a fast that caused delirium and ultimately resulted in a hit and run incident in California. Though there’s surely an argument to be made that Ibarra is just more expensive than Ortiz’s camp Jackson obviously felt slighted by Ibarra’s actions.

Jackson is expected to return to the octagon in November against Wanderlei Silva at UFC 91.

I never cared for Ibarra because he reminded me of a Don King personality…….. but at the same time I never relly liked Tito either…..Tito runs his mouth so much with ignorance I am not sure how serious to take him or how much to believe. I know Tito exagerates and has lied in the past. F them both. Ibarra is bad for MMA. Tito needs to focus on fighting and pounding Jenna. Tito’s mouth is not trust worthy and more often than not spews garbage.

haha tito speaks his mind and i like him for it

Rampage/Ibarra is another story….. I’ll wait for Rampage to speak out.

  • timcat said:

He should know, he runs it. I know way back in the day that Rampage was a part of Team Punishment. Ibarra really screwed himself with this one.

  • kouch said:

Another thing: I’ve been ripped off worse than Rampage and taken advantage of by a Stock Broker/Financial Advisor when I was younger. It is not an excuse to “fast” then flip the F out. I defended Rampage’s actions to the fullest even when the miscarriage thing came up. Ibarra is not fully to blame for Rampage’s issues. He may be part of the problem but he did not single handedly cause them. Most of us here have already spoken our bitter feelings for Ibarra before any of this happened. Now Ibarra is just being exposed for the piece of crap he is. I just wish someone more honorable than Tito took a stand against him.

    KOuch,
I’ve been working too much. What “miscarriage thing”?

I need to hear rampage’s side of the story before i make up my mind. I honestly thought juanito truly cared for rampage like a son. But $hit who knows.

who knows and who cares. Any opinions on who’s gonna win the Wanderlei/Rampage fight?

  • Arnold Darkshner said:

Overcharging? Does Tito think there is some universal guide to how much training camps should cost? It would seem that Rampage had no problem with paying 65k until he lost, so how is Ibarra a thief? Tito just needs to worry about finding a job and maybe he should start paying 65k for a trainer that would help his sinking career.

I always hated Ibarras choice of hat - now this is one more thing to annoy me

  • kelvin said:

tito is an idiot and shouldn’t open his mouth anymore except to apologize to all the fans for his latest crappy performances

  • Us and Chuck said:

    Are you kidding !!!

    I love that hat.

Got to say don’t care for Tito and his attitude the man is an attention seeker but he has a point the price seems a very excessive to me and having seen the facilities on UFC 86 preview show how can he charge 65k ?

  • Art V said:

juanito seems to be a snake tito said his part now what does rampage have to say rampage/wanderlei rampage first round

  • zac said:

yea…how do you blame Ibarra for charging a fee on top of what Tito charges for camp. This is usually how it works when someone has a “Manager” or “Agent” or anything else like that. Maybe he charged him a lot, but its one thing if Rampage paid and did not ask, and entirely different if Rampage asked but was lied to.

  • JustJoe said:

How much does Couture charge? Anybody know?

  • kouch said:

    Rutdog,

Some 38yr old scumbag unmarried lady was bringing a bastard into the world and blamed Rampage for her miscarriage. Apparently Rampage side swiped her new Escalade and she blamed that for her miscarriage. My problem was she took too much time to come forth with her BS…..anyway….old news…I just never forget anything.

  • DolfanG said:

    KOuch,

Hey buddy… Is everything OK? I’m just asking because your last post emmed a bit more venemous than it might have needed to be… 38yr old scumbag… a bastard… Have you had anything to eat today?

As far as Rampage is concerned, I really like this guy. I hope the whole case against him gets settled without him having to serve time, but we’ll have to wait and see.

Rampage was charged more for his camp than Tito charges… Rampage has won championships while Kendel Grove and Matt Hamill have been coming up a bit short. Arnold Darkshner said it best… Is there a preset, universally agreed to price for camps? Is Ibarra price gouging because a hurricane is coming? I don’t see where theft enters the picture. Zac is also right when he said what he said. Theft is when a person takes something against the owners wishes. Theft is not when a person charges more for something than somebody else. Tito talks like a teenager. The shy is falling!!! The sky is falling!!! Relax. Rampage made a decision and it’s done. We’ll see what his new camp can do for him, but I wonder why he didn’t go to Tito’s camp?

  • ALL_VICTIM said:

    Go Tito speak your mine

Tito is not scared to speak out like some others

I would like to hear what Rampage thinks

  • sam said:

Ibarra can charge any price he wants. Just because Tito charges 35k, does not mean Ibarra has to charge that. Ibarra led Rampage to title, and has trained De La Hoya. Who’s seeking out Tito’s camp?

  • Dr Doom said:

Hey .i got a camp …… we can throw paintcans … pee in a bucket and roast marshmellows . Then we get wasted ,put on boxing gloves and beat the sh!t out of each other . bring on the champ baby ! now can I get 50 grand ?

  • ALL_VICTIM said:

    Dr Doom

    LMAO!!!

    I’m in for that :)

  • timcat said:

    Just joe,

Couture charges $400.00 an hour for MMA classes. He probably charges abou 40,000 for camps.

  • kouch said:

I’m DANDY! I just don’t forget anything. That being said, I will never forget the 38yr old unmarried scumbag who was attemtping to give life and TAKE ADVANTAGE OF RAMPAGE! Venemous? Perhaps…..in my own way.

  • kouch said:

I’ve said a million times that Tito is a terrible buiness man and moron. That was before Dana ever started proving my views true. Tito is an idiot and cannot be taken seriously. He is like a politician how he distorts exagerates and lies.

  • timcat said:

    Hey KOuch,
Tell us how you really feel about Tito.

  • justin said:

I feel like the value of a camp is whatever you’re willing to pay for it. If Ibarra wants to charge 65k, and Rampage wants to pay 65k they’re adults and can do what they want. Now if Ibarra told Rampage something along the lines of that being a going rate, and that’s not true, its Rampage’s dumb fault for not looking around. I think Ibarra did ok as a trainer for Rampage, but Rampage brought a lot to the table himself. They sucked it up on TUF though.

  • Dr Doom said:

justin seems to be a defense lawyer .

Why don’t help KJ with his fraud case?he’s pretending to be champ right now hehe

    Just kidding

  • justin said:

    DrDoom,

No, not a defense lawyer, I just believe in self-responsibility, and free market capitalism.

  • Dietrich said:

Best laugh in 3 days thanks to all the posters….

  • angel said:

Tito does know what he is talking about. He was not at camp and does know the details. He doesn’t know what a professional camp cost because he doesn’t treat his sparring partners the way Team Rampage did. He does not insure them incase they get injured. He doesn’t provided a professional chef, food, gas money, top payment to all the fighters [yes fighters are paid] and coachers. Three houses to sleep all. What really happened is that Rampage OVER spent! Juanito warned him about the cost, but he did not want to let anyone go home. So the budget blown. All of you can say what you want but the true THEIF is Rampage. He is spreading lies and stealing the TRUTH. Juanito has working hard for Rampage but he needed to blame someone else. Rampage is a coward.

Tito has no crediablity! Why listen to him?
