Nick Diaz will face Muhsin Corbbrey at the June 14th EliteXC show in Honolulu, HI, according to MMA Weekly. Diaz was tapped to appear last month at the Strikeforce/EliteXC co-promoted event against Jae Suk Lin, but ran into some trouble with the CSAC regarding his well documented marijuana use and long story short, was unable to compete on the card.
Corbbrey (7-2) is undefeated since venturing into EliteXC, and looks to be a promising up-and-comer with five of his seven wins coming via submission, and one via knock out.
Diaz (15-7) is a well-known UFC veteran with notable victories over Mike Aina, Gleison Tibau, Josh Neer, Drew Fickett, and Robbie Lawler and notable losses to Sean Sherk, Karo Parisyan, Joe Riggs, and Diego Sanchez. Diaz also pulled off a stunning gogoplata submission win over Takanori Gomi that was later ruled a no contest due to a failed drug test.
In addition to the Diaz-Corbbrey fight, EliteXC’s June event will feature a long awaited match up between Jake Shields and Drew Fickett, with the winner being crowned the first ever EliteXC welterweight champion. K.J. Noons and Yves Edwards are also slated to meet that evening in a lightweight championship bout.
