Keith Jardine to Return to Strikeforce in December for Middleweight Debut

Keith JardineKeith Jardine is ready for a change. No, he is not shaving his trademark beard. He is instead planning to drop to the 185-pound middleweight division for his Strikeforce return in December.

Jardine (17-9-2) recently announced on his Twitter account (which is aptly named @keithjardine205) that he will be returning to action for Strikeforce at a yet to be announced card in December, but will not be fighting at his usual weight class of 205-pounds, however. Instead, he hopes to make his middleweight debut at the event.

The event, scheduled for December 17, is expected to feature Jorge Masvidal challenging lightweight champion Gilbert Melendez along with the return of Gina Carano.

Possible opponents for Jardine include former champion Cung Le, along with former title challengers Tim Kennedy and Robbie Lawler.

The “Dean of Mean” last fought in April in a draw against Gegard Mousasi after Mousasi was deducted a point for an illegal upkick. He is 3-6-1 in his last 10 fights, including a four fight losing streak that caused his release from the UFC in June 2010 following a loss to Matt Hamill.

Renowned nutritionist Mike Dolce has been brought on to assist Jardine with his transition to the middleweight division.
