BJ Penn appears to be staying on the UFC 137 fight card after being offered a “deal he couldn’t refuse” one day after the UFC moved Carlos Condit from his co-main event matchup with Penn to replace an absent Nick Diaz and challenge welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre in the UFC 137 headliner .
“Dana just offered me a deal I can’t refuse.pretty sure I’m still fighting on Oct. 29th,” Penn wrote on Twitter on Thursday.
Penn’s opponent apparently won’t be fellow contender Jon Fitch, who fought Penn to a draw in February, after UFC President Dana White said Fitch won’t be ready for the Oct. 29 event in Las Vegas. At yesterday’s UFC 137 press conference, White hinted that a “crazy” option was being considered, but no opponent has been finalized yet.
