The injury that forced Vitor Belfort out of his UFC 139 fight with Cung Le on Nov. 19 is “nothing major” and “The Phenom” expects to be ready to return to the Octagon in December.
“I am out of november card, I have to take care of a injure. Nothing major but the good news that the doctor says I will be ready for dec,” Belfort announced on Twitter.
After being knocked out by middleweight champion Anderson Silva in February, Belfort (20-9) got right back into the title hunt with the “Knockout of the Night” over Yoshihiro Akiyama last month at UFC 133 in less than two-minutes.
Belfort was replaced on the UFC 139 fight card by fellow Brazilian Wanderlei Silva, who meets the former Strikeforce champ Le under the UFC 139 main event between light heavyweight contenders Dan Henderson and Mauricio “Shogun” Rua.
