Strikeforce women’s featherweight champion Cristiane “Cyborg” Santos will return to the cage to face 12-1 Japanese prospect Hiroko Yamanaka at Strikeforce’s December 17 event, which is expected to take place in San Diego, California, according to MMAjunkie.
Cyborg (10-1), widely ranked as the top pound-for-pound female fighter, recently re-signed with Strikeforce more than a year after scoring a second-round knockout of Jan Finney in her most-recent bout last June.
Yamanaka has won eight-straight since her first and only career loss, including a notable win over Hitomi Akano .
The Dec. 17 Strikeforce card, which airs on Showtime, is headlined by lightweight champ Gilbert Melendez vs. Jorge Masvidal and is also expected to feature the return of Gina Carano, UFC vet Keith Jardine, and former champ Gegard Mousasi vs. Ovince St. Preux.
