The Ultimate Fighter 14 returned to Spike TV on Wednesday for its second episode, one week after the first-ever featherweight and bantamweight cast was cut from 32 to 16 with an elimination round on the two-hour debut.
The episode begins with middleweight coaches Michael Bisping and Jason “Mayhem” Miller choosing their teams. Bisping wins a coin toss by UFC President Dana White and takes the first pick from the 145- and 135-pound fighters, leaving “Mayhem” to choose the first matchup.
The teams are picked as:
- Team Bisping: Louis Gaudinot, TJ Dillashaw, John Albert, Josh Ferguson
- Team Mayhem: John Dodson, Johnny Bedford, Dustin Pague, Roland Delorme
- Team Bisping: Diego Brandao, Akira Corassani, Marcus Brimage, Stephen Bass
- Team Mayhem: Dennis Bermudez, Bryan Caraway, Dustin Neace, Steven Siler
After the team’s first training sessions, Miller announces that his featherweight second-pick Bryan Caraway will face Bisping’s third-choice Marcus Brimage in the first matchup.
In the fight, Brimage fended off a rear naked choke from Caraway for much of the opening round and still managed some offense with Caraway latched on, but Caraway took his back again in the second and forced Brimage to tap to the RNC.
With the first featherweight matchup in the books, next week’s episode will feature a bantamweight bout at Team Mayhem maintains control of the matchmaking.
