Diaz and Penn each earned “Fight of the Night” for their outstanding fight in the main event of the evening. Diaz, returning to the UFC for the first time since UFC 65 in November 2006, earned his first career post-fight bonus.
Penn earns his first career “Fight of the Night” bonus, and fourth overall. He previously earned two “Submission of the Night” awards and one “Knockout of the Night” award.
Donald Cerrone earned his second consecutive fight night bonus, and third of the year, completing the trifecta. He won a “Fight of the Night” bonus following his win against Paul Kelly at UFC 126, then won “Knockout of the Night” against Charles Oliveira at UFC on Versus 5 in August.
Cerrone stated in his post-fight comments he would like to fight once more this year, which would be his fifth fight in 2011. If he were to win a post-fight bonus for that fight, he would become the first fighter in UFC history to win four bonuses in one year.
Bart Palaszewski finally made his UFC debut, and his featherweight debut, and he made the best of it. Not only did he receive 25% of his opponent Tyson Griffin’s purse after Griffin failed to make weight, but he takes home his second career “Knockout of the Night” bonus as well. He previously won the award during his WEC days at WEC 37 against Alex Karalexis in December 2008.
