UFC 139 Live Results for “Shogun vs. Henderson”

Shogun Rua and Dan Henderson UFC 139 weigh will have live results for tonight’s UFC 139 event in San Jose, California starting at 5:30pm ET for the preliminary card and 9pm ET for the pay-per-view main card, which is headlined by light heavyweight contenders Mauricio “Shogun” Rua and Dan Henderson and also includes Wanderlei Silva vs. Cung Le and Urijah Faber vs. Brian Bowles.

Shogun Rua vs. Dan Henderson Play-by-Play

Round 1 – Shogun surprisingly looks for a takedown to start the action, but Henderson grabs a front choke. He gives it up in favor of a knee and combination that bloodies Shogun early. More punches connect for Henderson as Shogun struggles to find his rhythm early. Shogun hints at another takedown, but opts for a combination as he backs away. Shogun connects with short hammerfists as Henderson looks for a takedown, but Henderson answers and they return to their feet. Henderson knees the body in the clinch as the first round winds down. Rua controls Henderson against the fence, but offers little offense. scores the first for Henderson 10-9.

Round 2 – Rua and Henderson circle as they try to find their range before Shogun grabs Henderson in the clinch. They back away to trade and Henderson connects with an uppercut followed by punches to the body. Rua recovers with an overhand right, then both fighters find their mark with straight combinations. Rua continues to move forward and presses Henderson against the cage. Henderson reverses to the outside, but there’s little offense as they struggle for position. They separate and Henderson gets the better of the late exchange. scores a close second for Henderson 10-9 putting him up 20-18.

Round 3 – Shogun begins the third with punches as Henderson keeps his back against the fence. Henderson hurts Shogun and swarms for the finish on the ground, but Rua survives and grabs a heel hook. Henderson is in little danger and slips away, but it’s enough for Shogun to get back to his feet. Rua drags Henderson to the ground despite some hard elbows to the body and briefly has Henderson’s back, but they scramble back to their feet and finish the fight fighting in the clinch. scores the third for Henderson 10-9, putting him up 30-27.

Round 4 – Shogun takes Henderson down to start the fourth, but Henderson reverses to take his back. Henderson threatens with a choke and Rua goes for a leglock, but both are unsuccessful. Henderson stays on top of Rua and does enough to keep from being stood up, but Shogun finally escapes back to his feet. Henderson and Rua trade punches near the fence and Shogun sends him stumbling backwards with a punch. Henderson shoots for a desparate takedown, but Shogun keeps the pressure on with hammerfists. Shogun gets full mount then takes Henderson’s back, but Henderson reverses to finish the round on top. scores the fourth for Rua 10-9, but he’s still down 39-37.

Round 5 – Both fighters are visibly tired as we begin the fifth. Shogun gets Henderson down again early and works to full mount. Shogun postures up for powerful punches as Henderson tries to protect himself. Rua loses mount and Henderson gets back to half guard. Rua passes back to mount then takes Henderson’s back. Henderson gets back to half guard, but Shogun gets free for more ground and pound and passes to mount again. They fight between mount and half guard as the round winds down and the final horn sounds. scores the fifth for Rua 10-8 for a 47-47 draw.
