UFC 141 Results: Alistair Overeem Demolishes Brock Lesnar for First-Round TKO

Alistair Overeem demolished Brock Lesnar in the main event of UFC 141 on Friday night in Las Vegas, scoring a first-round TKO to earn the next shot at heavyweight champion Junior dos Santos.

Lesnar opened the bout with several leg kicks, but Overeem quickly took control with several powerful knees to the body. A kick to the body sent Lesnar to the ground where he tried to cover up, but Overeem blasted him with punches to force referee Mario Yamasaki to call the fight.

Overeem improves to 36-11 after a successful UFC debut for the former Strikeforce champion and will be the first challenger for dos Santos’ title in the new year, while Lesnar retired following the loss with a 5-3 MMA record.

Nate Diaz outpointed lightweight rival Donald Cerrone in UFC 141’s co-main event, while the UFC 141 main card also saw Johny Hendricks knock out Jon Fitch in just 12-seconds, Alexander Gustafsson score a first-round TKO of Vladimir Matyushenko, and Jim Hettes dominate Nam Phan. All five UFC 141 prelims went to decision, with Ross Pearson and Danny Castillo earning featured wins.
