A planed rematch between Carlos Condit and Nick Diaz was called off on Wednesday just hours after UFC President Dana White said Condit had agreed to face Diaz again despite narrowly outpointing him this past Saturday at UFC 143 to win the interim welterweight title and a shot at champion Georges St-Pierre.
After rumors emerged early Wednesday that the rematch had fallen apart, Diaz’s manager, Cesar Gracie, confirmed to MMAWeekly that “there is not going to be a rematch,” while Condit’s manager, Malki Kawa, said his client would meet with UFC President Dana White on Friday, presumably to discuss Condit’s next fight, which now looks to be a showdown with St-Pierre when he return from a knee injury around November.
It not yet known why the rematch was suddenly scrapped.
