A match up between lightweight battlers Carlo Prater and T.J. Grant is being targeted for the impending UFC on Fuel TV 3 fight card, as initially reported by MM-eh.ca.
Carlo Prater (30-10) made his UFC debut over the summer as a welterweight, stepping in as an injury replacement for Siyar Bahadurzada against Erick Silva at UFC 142 in Brazil. Prater was beaten by Silva in less than thirty seconds into the first round, but was declared the winner anyway when referee Mario Yamasaki declared the finishing blows Silva landed to be illegal. The seasoned Prater will be looking to make a more impressive statement when he returns to the lightweight division to face Grant.
A seven-fight veteran of the UFC, Nova Scotia’s T.J. Grant has gone back and forth between the win and loss columns since his promotional debut, earning a UFC record of 4-3 for his efforts. Experiencing middling success as a welter, Grant decided to head south to look for success and he found it, defeating Shane Roller via armbar this past October at UFC Live: Cruz vs. Johnson and looking very impressive in the process. He was to face Jacob Volkmann at UFC 141 in December but was forced from the fight with injury.
UFC on Fuel TV 3 will take place on May 15 at the Patriot Center in Fairfax, Virginia.
