It appears that the Strikeforce heavyweight tournament has an end in sight after a year and a half since its beginning. Finalists Daniel Cormier and Josh Barnett are scheduled to meet May 19. The bout was announced during the “Strikeforce: Tate vs. Rousey” card.
While no location has been set as of now, Josh Barnett will be reapplying for his license in California on Monday.
Cormier entered the tournament as a replacement for Alistair Overeem and defeated Antonio Silva in impressive fashion to reach the finals.
Barnett, an original tournament member, has cruised to victory in wins over Sergei Kharitonov and Brett Rogers to reach the finals. Barnett will be looking to extend his current seven-fight winstreak.
